Dear friends of the Ocean.
We hope to find you all in good health during these difficult times. Despite the obvious difficulties, the I live by the Sea community is getting ready for this year’s edition of the Contest. Here is a short update of the I live by the Sea status.
We have become an official partner of the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), which is our joint success! Thank you all. We have concluded the 2019/20 Contest with a film, which provides all necessary information about the Contest and its winners. Once again congratulations to all contributors and winners alike. Our exhibition was scheduled to be one of the official exhibitions during the 2020 UN Ocean Conference, which was to be held in the first week of June in Lisbon. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Conference is still postponed and so we are waiting for further developments.
We are also very happy to announce that we have recently joined the EU4Ocean Platform and thus the Contest has gained further recognition at the European level.
In summer of 2020, we launched the first edition of the I live by the Sea Summer School, which proved very successful. Our 6 webinars were viewed by 17,370 people from all over the world. This encouraging result proves that our community is very active and thus we will certainly repeat the summer effort in 2021.
At the moment, we are putting together all necessary information and documents for the 2021 edition of the Contest and we plan to launch the 2021 Contest edition in late 2020. Please be with us, share your thoughts and information, help us make the I live by the Sea community even more effective in its actions, and always remember our motto: We all live by the sea, no matter how far from the sea you live.
